Reports: Governor names new Illinois DCEO director

CHICAGO, Feb. 13 — Gov. Bruce Rauner has named Jim Schultz of Effingham as Director of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, according to media reports.

The radio station WXEF said Schultz, 55, chairman of the private equity firm Open Prairie Ventures, Inc., has the right experience in agribusiness and banking to develop and support businesses across the state of Illinois.

Schultz has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University, a law degree from DePaul University and an MBA from Northwestern University, according to the Capitol Fax blog that monitors state government.
