The education to workforce options in the Rockford Region is what makes this Your Opportunity Region. From aircraft mechanics to engineers there is an education option that supports careers needed in our area.

Aircraft Maintenance Program

Rock Valley College provides multiple options for Aviation Maintenance Technology students. These include certificates for Airframe Technician, Aviation Maintenance, and Powerplant Technician. These types of programs are often referred to as A&P Programs. These courses are held at the new state of the art Aviation Career Center at the Chicago Rockford International Airport and are FAA approved degree programs.

NIU/RVC Engineering Program

Northern Illinois University (NIU) and Rock Valley College (RVC) have partnered to create a four-year bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering right here at RVC for under $40,000. This business and community driven initiative connects students with mentors, internships, and job opportunities.

Techworks

In our TechWorks program you will learn the skills necessary to enter the manufacturing environment at an entry level position with a solid foundation of shop math, blueprint interpretation, metrology, and CNC setup/operation skills. TechWorks is an employer-driven training organization that develops and delivers a customized curriculum to prepare you for a career in advanced manufacturing in just six to eight weeks.
