Rockford shows fifth-sharpest decline in unemployment in the nation

The Rockford metro area showed the fifth-largest decline in unemployment rates in the United States from November 2013 to November 2014, according to a January 2015 report from Garner Economics.

Rockford’s year-over-year 3.3 percentage point drop to 8.1 percent unemployment fell behind only Danville; Decatur; Yuma, Ariz.; and Kankakee-Bradley. Flint, Mich.; Pueblo, Colo.; Lima, Ohio; Toledo, Ohio; and Dayton, Ohio rounded out the top 10 metro areas with the largest declines in unemployment.
