ROCKFORD, Jan. 12 — ServiCom wants to bring 1,000 service jobs to Rockford by the end of the year; this is a large jump from the original 400 jobs the company estimated last September. WIFR reports that Comcast, ServiCom’s largest client, is working on an impending merger with Time Warner Cable and asked ServiCom to increase call numbers in order to support their growth.  The new state-of-the-art call center will be located where the vacant K’s Merchandise in Rockford sits.

WIFR adds that starting pay for the jobs will be close to $11/hour and offer full benefits.  ServiCom is requesting $50,000 from the city for job training, stating that the skills learned will be applicable to future jobs, not just at ServiCom.
