ROCKFORD, Jan. 13 — Because of their passion for and roots in the community, Rockford Area Economic Development Council staffers are involved in multiple organizations and efforts outside of their jobs. Beatrice Zammuto Miller, business development assistant with the RAEDC since 2008, is a Rockford native who cares passionately about downtown and the artisitic value of architecture. “I’m very interested in seeing the architectural history of our city preserved for everyone to enjoy.” She is part of an effort to save a detailed arch at the former Asher Tool building, the 89-year-old warehouse ruined in a massive fire Jan. 6. “This type of architectural detail is special and unique because it’s a form of public art. You just don’t see relief sculptures on buildings much anymore. So I hope we can save this!” See the full Register Star story here.
