Rock Valley College would establish a manufacturing education campus in southwest Rockford as part of an initial $32 million plan to remake the city’s sprawling Barber-Colman property.
Initially, four buildings would be redeveloped. Rock Valley would become the anchor tenant, and the city hopes retail, medical, residential and commercial users would follow. Aldermen and Rock Valley College trustees will consider a predevelopment agreement in coming weeks that would get the ball rolling.
