ModernForgeCompanies, LLC is a manufacturer of close tolerance, near net forgings. Modern employs over 500 people, operates over 35 production forge units and multiple machine centers for finished products and assemblies.
Modern will be consolidating three of its operations into one facility located on South Kishwaukee Avenue in Rockford. Two of these three operations are currently located in Rockford and the third operation is located out-of-state. The combined operation will be renamed Modern Advanced Manufacturing, LLC, and is the Company’s platform to deliver high quality machined components and assemblies.
Some of Modern’s operations have already moved into the new facility with the remainder of the operations to follow fairly quickly. It is anticipated that once the operations are consolidated, there will be a net increase of 25 to 30 jobs in the Rockford Area.
Modern supports a wide range of customers with products from motorcycle components to brake assemblies for commercial aircraft.
Greg Heim CFO of Modern said “We appreciate the support we were given by the people at First Midwest Group, the State of Illinois, the City of Rockford, the Northern Illinois Workforce Alliance and the Rockford Area Economic Development Council in making this move occur as quickly as it did.”
“Successes such as this one are possible through a great degree of teamwork and co-operation”, said Mike Nicholas, President of the Rockford Area Economic Development Council.
