PCI Pharma Services Consolidates Operations at Rockford Center of Excellence
Leading pharmaceutical outsourcing provider PCI Pharma Services has announced it is transitioning its commercial packaging operation currently located in Woodstock, Illinois to its Rockford, IL campus.
PCI’s Woodstock location currently occupies around 106,000 square feet and employs approximately 125 associates supporting commercial packaging services for ethical and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals.
PCI’s Rockford location provides similar commercial packaging services, in addition to packaging and labeling investigational medicines for clinical trials; the storage and global distribution of clinical trial medicines; as well as on-site analytical laboratory services. The Rockford location is comprised of seven facilities totaling more than 1 million square feet and currently employs approximately 1,500 associates.
The Woodstock to Rockford transition is anticipated to be completed mid to late 2017. PCI is headquartered in Philadelphia, PA and also operates drug manufacturing, packaging, and logistical facilities in Europe. On behalf of its pharmaceutical and biotech clients, PCI supports medicines destined to more than 100 countries around the world.

The Woodstock staff is tremendously skilled and we anticipate they will be fully absorbed during this transition, having been offered the opportunity to relocate to Rockford Operations.”
PCI announced the opening of a new 93,000-square foot clinical trial storage and distribution facility at the Rockford location in September 2014, in response to its noteworthy growth in clinical trial logistics. The Rockford campus has also featured several capital expansions of its clinical and commercial packaging facilities over the past four years to support this business growth.
In October 2015, PCI announced its rebrand to PCI Pharma Services, reflecting the broadening of its portfolio of pharmaceutical outsourcing services and the integration of acquired businesses Penn Pharma, Biotec Services International, AndersonBrecon, and Packaging Coordinators Inc.
