RAEDC quoted in story about economic benefits of healthcare in Rockford Region


Jimsi 1577re 4x6 ROCKFORD, Aug. 16 — Rockford Area Economic Development Council Director of Investor Relations Jimsi Kuborn was among the people quoted in a Rockford Register Star story about the importance and growing strength of healthcare in the Rockford Region.

MercyRockford Health System recently announced a $400 million project to create one hospital on two campuses in Rockford.

Kuborn pointed out that the region has three vibrant, growing health systems, plus the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford and the Saint Anthony College of Nursing, as well as health care-related businesses that include Crusader Community Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Rosecrance Health Network and Practice Velocity.

“Industry clusters promote efficiency, specialization, education, and research and development,” she was quoted as saying. “Clusters benefit from greater scale, blooming even further as other companies want to complement or join such a network. We’ve seen this to be true with aerospace, transportation and customer service in this region, among other industries.”
