Transform section highlights opportunity to ‘tell the story of a Rockford renaissance’

ROCKFORD, July 21 — The Rockford Register Star publishes a Transform themed section each month. July’s focus is on Rockford’s image.

The section, which publishes in print July 26, includes a story about the opportunities to change the lens on the city. Rockford Area Economic Development Council President Mike Nicholas is quoted about what the Rockford Region is known for. “We understand manufacturing,” he says, which is a strength in attracting companies here from cities and regions where it might be tougher to business.

Nicholas adds that the region is also attractive as a healthcare center and home to a growing number of call centers.

Demographer Bert Sperling said these factors along with affordability and others present the chance to “tell the story of a Rockford renaissance.”
