ROCKFORD, July 10 — On October 1, 2015, manufacturers around the Rockford Region will welcome students into their facilities for Manufacturing Day 2015 (MFG DAY). Students will get the opportunity to tour local manufacturing facilities and learn about different professions available in the region. This is the fourth consecutive year the program is available in the Rockford Region. The national MFG DAY is October 2, but due to scheduling complexities, the local MFG DAY will be held on October 1. Local manufacturing leaders are teaming up with the Rockford Chamber of Commerce, the Rockford Area Economic Development Council, IMEC and Rock Valley College – in collaboration with CEANCI and area school districts to organize this event. MFG DAY creates awareness and improves public perception of manufacturing careers, as well as value of manufacturing to the North American economy. This is an opportunity to volunteer your company to help develop the workforce pipeline in the area. To host students at your facility on October 1, contact Vee Jevremovic of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce at vjevremovic@rockfordchamber.com or (815)987-8100. See which companies are already participating. To register your students for an open house, contact Margie Hartfiel of CEANCI at m.hartfiel@rockvalleycollege.edu or (815)921-1651.
