The second Stroll on State, a holiday kickoff Nov. 29 in downtown Rockford, doubled its attendance in 2014 to an estimated 60,000. The Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau sponsored the free event, which garnered kudos from the Rockford Register Star editorial board in a Dec. 2 editorial. The board struck a positive tone for the whole future of downtown: “Saturday’s attendance is another reminder that people are more than willing to come to downtown Rockford for entertainment. Downtown is destined to be even busier in the next couple of years when a new indoor sports complex, a hotel/convention center, and new shops and restaurants open.
