AAR breaks ground on jet MRO facility at airport at Rockford airport

AAR Corp. has broken ground on the highly anticipated new hangar facility on the Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) site.

Announced in August, the facility is being built in partnership with international maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider AAR, who will pay the gateway $400,000-a-year to lease the space.

The $40 million, 200,000-square-foot facility, which sits on 13 acres, includes a 9 1/2-story jet hangar and is expected to operate 24-hours a day and generate more than 500 new jobs.
