UDL\’s facility includes 75,000 square feet dedicated to the packaging operation as well as nine blister packaging machines. We are especially excited about our newest state-of-the-art packaging line, which allowed us to expand our product offering and packaging capabilities to include cold-form foil-to-foil blisters. Our current blister filling capacity of approximately 1 billion doses, and our ability to expand by almost 40% to 1.4 billion doses, means that we are well positioned to meet the growing needs of our customers for unit dose products.
Patient safety issues and the reduction of medication errors led UDL to use its specialty packaging expertise to develop such lines as Emergi-Script®, Robot-Rx™ Ready, and pre-filled Punch Cards. It\’s also why we implemented a fully integrated bar coding system down to the patient dispensing level. We\’re proud of the fact that we were the first in the industry to make bar coding a priority in all of our product labeling.
