The workshop, held on December 11, 2015 further defined consistent standards regarding identified QSP industrial sites. Members concluded the workshop with a consensus that the Rockford Region Qualified Site Program would also incorporate the Shovel Ready Sites. As we further define and develop these criteria it is critical our program brings consistent credibility to the market. The Rockford Region Qualified Site Program is concerned with filling identified market gaps in the region’s portfolio of sites and ensuring that presented sites meet the needs of business prospects.
The goal is to ensure that developers, property owners, municipalities, utilities and other partners understand and utilize the criteria and standards developed in this program to create an inventory of pre-qualified, speculative sites ready for immediate development by end-users. Such sites will be added to the local and regional inventory and will be strongly marketed.

Fehr Graham Expands
Engineering and Environmental firm Fehr Graham announced its acquisition of civil engineering and land surveying firm Arnold Lundgren Associates (ALA) of Rockford, Illinois. Fehr Graham has also acquired the Springfield, IL civil/structural engineering and land surveying firm Coombe-Bloxdorf P.C.
Taurus Die Casting Opens US Manufacturing Center
As part of the EDGE tax credit approval process reinstated by Governor Rauner, the Illinois Department of Commerce announced Taurus Die Casting LLC, an Italian based company will open its first U.S. based operation in Rockford, IL. Taurus Die Casting will create 37 full-time jobs through its $6.4 million investment in a 44,000 sf production facility. Taurus Die Casting is the manufacturer of high precision zinc die casted parts.

Congratulations to Accuride Wheel End Solutions’ Rockford Operations! They received the 2015 AME Excellence Award. In 2013 Accuride chose to invest $40 million into upgrading the Rockford location, improving processes and capabilities. The new plant consolidated three facilities into one keeping 410 jobs in the Rockford Region.
