The Rockford Region is strong because of its diverse demographics and connected location — central in the Midwest and right next to the expanding Chicagoland market. And it is strong because of the cooperative, attractive cities and villages of all sizes across north-central Illinois.
There are more than 800,000 people within 45 miles of Rockford and 13 million within 120 miles.

*The U.S. Census Bureau announced they would not release the standard 2020 1-year American Community Survey (ACS) data products and instead would release a set of 1-year estimates using experimental weights. They have released an analytical report, An Assessment of the COVID-19 Pandemic’s Impact on the 2020 ACS 1-year Data, detailing that decision, documenting how the challenges in collecting responses significantly impaired the quality of the resulting estimates, which were often inconsistent with benchmarks and administrative data, or changed in unexpected magnitudes. These inconsistencies signaled a serious quality issue in the 2020 ACS 1-year data. Learn more at Census.gov.
