MAC2020 – Virtual a Success

Last week the Rockford Area Economic Development Council (RAEDC) and the Rockford Area Aerospace Network (RAAN) hosted MAC2020, the premier Midwest Aerospace Conference.

The day started with Kevin Michaels, Managing Director for AeroDynamic Advisory providing an Aerospace Industry Update focusing on the long-term implications of COVID-19. Some of the key take-aways include

  • It will be six months to one year for people to begin air travel
  • Low cost carriers will pick-up market share of available aircraft
  • Diversification is important and the U.S. Government is changing payment terms to pump money into the supply chain

The afternoon was filled with matchmaking sessions. These 15-minute virtual sessions allowed for 62 connections for companies to expand their networks and opportunities for cultivating business relationships.

“Turning MAC2020 into a virtual event allowed participants to continue to generate business connections while hearing first-hand how the industry is changing. MAC2020 has informed businesses that there are opportunities out there and companies may need to pivot and refocus to remain healthy and strong as they continue to do business,” states Jarid Funderburg, VP of Business and Investor Relations & Staff Liaison to RAAN.

RAAN and the RAEDC strive to continue to provide relevant and insightful events for the community even in uncertain times. It is the dedication of staff and volunteers that ensure the industry clusters in our region have every opportunity to be successful and continue to flourish.
