Mid-West Family Broadcasting (Rockford) Wins Coveted “Walker Cup” Trophy


Mid-West Family Broadcasting - Walker Cup TrophyMid-West Family Broadcasting in Rockford was recently named the winner of the prized “Walker Cup” for revenue growth during the prior 12 months. The Rockford group of stations was recognized for their revenue growth from September 2015 through August 2016.  It is the highest award a Mid-West Family Broadcasting market can earn during the annual meeting.

“Winning the Walker Cup is recognition of the achievements of our team here in Rockford,” said Mike Paterson, General Manager of the Rockford group. “This award is based on performance and our team has worked hard to create customers over the last few years during a changing media landscape and challenged local economic environment. I couldn’t be more proud of our team members.”

The Walker Cup is named for William Walker, longtime leader of the Mid-West Family Broadcasting group of companies. Walker served as General Manager of the Rockford operations in the 1950s, at the time it was WRRR-AM 1330, before FM radio became a mainstay.

Mid-West Family Broadcasting in Rockford has 22 full-time employees and five radio stations – 104-9 The X, 95-3 The BULL, B103, Sportsfan 1330, and 100-FM Rockford’s Greatest Hits.  On the regional scene, Mid-West Family is a family of five different companies that owns and operates radio stations in eight Midwestern markets including Madison, South Bend, and Springfield.
