IT IS OFFICIAL! Belvidere City Mayor Chamberlain and Growth Dimensions Executive Director Jarid F. Funderburg are very pleased with the long anticipated announcement for a product line change at the FCA US Belvidere Assembly Plant. The Jeep Cherokee will be assembled in Belvidere, IL. The company will invest nearly $350 million in upgrades and create approximately 300 new jobs.
Mayor Mike Chamberlain commented, “Fiat Chrysler has been a vital partner and economic anchor for the City of Belvidere and the Illinois/Wisconsin State Line region for many, many decades. The production of the Jeep Cherokee at the Belvidere Assembly Plant is a huge win for us all.” Since 2009, FCA US has announced investments of more than $6.8 billion and added more than 23,500 (including nearly 18,000 hourly) people in its U.S. operations. “We are all very excited with this announcement. The City of Belvidere, Growth Dimensions and FCA US representatives all worked together to make this happen, a true testament to collaborative and positive teamwork,” Executive Director Funderburg said.
