Sixth Round of Nurses from Lidköping, Sweden Coming to Rockford


RAEDCstarlogotransparentThe Swedish Government has approved a $64,000SEK (US$7,665) grant to the Nursing Instructors at De la Gardiegymnasiet, Lidköping, Sweden this week, facilitating a trip to Rockford, IL.

Instructors are in the process of selecting nursing students who will travel to Rockford, IL in Fall 2016. This will be the sixth round of Nursing Program Collaboration between Rockford and Lidköping. The group of students will spend most of their time at SwedishAmerica Hospital and will reside at the house owned by the SwedishAmerican Foundation.

The group will also visit Guilford High School and participate in some classes and learn more about the high school education system while exploring potential educational partnerships.

The partnership between Lidköping and Rockford celebrates its 10 years anniversary this year. “I am happy to see that another collaborative project like this is taking place, which continues for both our cities and regions to grow locally by working globally,” says Linnea Bengtsson, International Business Developer for City of Lidköping and County of Skaraborg (Sweden).

The relationship between Lidköping, Sweden and Rockford, IL began in 2006 with the signing of the Industrial Partnership Agreement, with the overall purpose to generate businesses and job growth for both cities. The agreement´s vision and mission is to have an active international dialogue with companies and organizations, as well as to create and generate businesses and educational collaborations locally and globally through leadership, long-term thinking and partnerships.
