The Leadership Council has created an ad hoc project that has been working on the Equalized Assessed Value (EAV) to educate the public about how property tax amounts are generated and used, as well as, identifying and proposing solutions for forward thinking strategies to ensure a sustainable and expanded tax base.
The Rockford Register Star investigates the reasoning behind the high property tax rates when compared to lower property values, which have been declining in the Rockford Region each year since 2009.
