The 2016 event scheduled for May 21 and 22 is the first of the four year commitment. The Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) will host the full 11 ½ mile course on May 21 featuring 20 obstacles including new obstacles like the Block Ness Monster and classics such as Electroshock Therapy. New for this year Tough Mudder has created a Tough Mudder Half. This 5 mile course is being unveiled at 5 locations across the US and Rockford has been selected as one of those locations. Taking place on May 22 the full course includes the Flying Squirrel as a finishing obstacle.
To ensure no one is left out there is also a one mile Fruit Shooter Mini Mudder for children aged 7-12.
The event has been brought to the Rockford Region through a partnership of the Rockford Area Visitor and Convention Bureau, the Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD), Tough Mudder and the City of Rockford. It is expected there will be 15,000 participants and spectators during the weekend’s event and will create a $3 million economic impact.
