ROCKFORD, Nov 9 — 
During a tour of Woodward, Inc. in 2014, Caralynn Nowinski, Chief Executive Officer of UI LABS saw firsthand how the manufacturing industry is operated in the Rockford Region; top of the line equipment, clean workspaces and above all the drive to meet the demanding needs of the aerospace vertical. During her visit Dr. Nowinski commented that “DMDII recognizes the Rockford Region’s advanced manufacturing as a poster child of their primary mission and purpose”.
Being designated a DMDII Chapter City recognizes the Rockford Region’s constant evolution as a leading manufacturing center and assists the area in continuing this evolution.
This designation is a direct result of the its relationship with NIU and NIU EIGERlab. NIU EIGERlab’s Center for Product Development (C4PD) and rapid prototyping services incorporating 3D printing technology demonstrates the range of services offered to entrepreneurs and small businesses; moving concepts from design to a functioning product quickly and in a cost-effective manner.

Designating Rockford as the first Chapter City demonstrates the confidence level DMDII has in the Rockford Region as a leader of manufacturing in Illinois.
