MACHESNEY PARK, July 6 — Practice Velocity has been honored with a 2015 Edie (Economic Development in Illinois Award) by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and the Illinois Economic Development Association. The Edies recognize growing businesses that are making a difference in their communities. “The Edies honor those who imagine, design, invest, and build in Illinois, and by doing so bring jobs, growth and prosperity to our communities,” said Todd Maisch, president and CEO of the Illinois Chamber. ComEd sponsored the seventh annual awards, which will be handed out July 14 at a luncheon in Chicago. “It is an honor to be recognized for our pursuit of economic development,” said David Stern, MD, CEO of Practice Velocity. “We remain committed to building jobs in the northern Illinois area.” Practice Velocity was recognized for transforming a vacant department store at Machesney Park Mall into its new headquarters. As a result, Machesney Park retained over 250 jobs through its expansion and the growing company plans to hire 400 new employees over the next 10 years. Practice Velocity has installed VelociDoc®, an electronic medical record (EMR) and PVM fully-integrated practice management system, in over 1,200 clinics throughout the U.S. The company also offers PV billing, contracting, credentialing and urgent care consulting services. “These Edie Award winners are investing capital, time and energy into their communities; they are providing good job opportunities and they are being good corporate citizens. Congratulations!” acknowledged Terry Denison, chairman of the board for IEDA. Other Edie Award winners include St. Nicholas Brewing Co. in DuQuoin, Horizon Pharma in Deerfield, Magid Glove & Safety Manufacturing Company in Romeoville and Shops and Lofts in Chicago.
