Woodward joint venture with GE Aviation ‘a win for the Rock River Valley’

Woodward

LOVES PARK, May 27 — Woodward announced today that it will hold a ribbon cutting July 1 for its new Rock Cut campus amid more good news for the company.

Sagar Patel, President, Aircraft Turbine Systems, spoke about the May 20 announcement of Woodward’s strategic 50/50 joint venture for fuel systems for GE’s large commercial aircraft engine lines.

The new joint venture will design, develop, source, supply and service the fuel system, including components from the fuel inlet up to the fuel nozzle, for the GE90, GEnx, GE9X and all future large commercial engines developed by GE Aviation. Woodward will be the preferred supplier to the joint venture.

“This adds more work in our Rock Cut campus. It’s more than just a win-win for Woodward and General Electric,” Patel said. “It’s a win for the Rock River Valley community as well. Woodward reamins committed to future generations of Woodward members as well as our community.”

That extra work means 80 to 100 additional jobs over the next decade on top of the growth previously expected, which had precipitated the need for a new campus, announced in 2012. Woodward employs more than 1,500 people in the Rockford Region; about 200 people, including many engineers, have been hired just this year.

“It’s great to see this community grow and prosper,” Patel said, crediting the company’s innovation as well as support from government officials and educational institutions like Rock Valley College.

Loves Park Mayor Darryl Lindberg thanked the Woodward team for “thinking outside the box” in a combined effort to bring about a second campus in the city.
