ROCKFORD, May 26 — Interactive Health, a wellness solutions company that partners with employers to improve employee health, has named the Rockford Park District as one of the “Healthiest Companies in America” in 2014. Throughout the United States, only 158 companies made the list. According to Rockford Park District’s press release, in 2014 the district experienced a participation rate of 72.5% by eligible employees and spouses. As a result of better health and increased awareness, the Rockford Park District retained 73.9% of its annual healthcare budget at the end of 2014. Debbie Gass, Director of Human Resources for the district was quoted on the big win, “Ultimately, the end result of this recognition is having healthy and more productive team members, who will in turn provide better, higher quality services to our citizens, and at the same time, lower healthcare costs for taxpayers.” The Rockford Park District has a wellness program that includes four tracts: nutritional, physical, financial and general. Employees are encouraged to improve their health with a $100 incentive bonus each year if they complete an annual physical and dental checkup, as well as attend one class in each tract within the year.
