ROCKFORD, May 20 — The Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (RACVB) announced the booking of the new Downtown Sports Complex’s first event, the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) 6th Grade Girls Basketball National Championships. Scheduled for mid-summer in 2018, the event is expected to have 100 teams from throughout the U.S., totaling more than 3,500 attendees. RACVB President/CEO, John Groh, explains his excitement about the complex’s first win, “Just a month ago we were celebrating the construction tip-off for the building, and now we are celebrating this great win. The momentum continues to build during this exciting time for sports tourism in Rockford.” |
