ROCKFORD, March 22 — Joshua Patterson of the Rockford Area Economic Development Council was featured in a WTVO-17 story about next week’s spring break trip that will allow 50 local teens to check out seven colleges in Tennessee and Georgia.
Patterson, business attraction coordinator, volunteers for the Wabongo Leadership Council, which promotes leadership, networking and community activism. Students will visit University of Memphis, University of Tennessee-Knoxville, Tennessee State University, Meharry Medical College, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University and Spelman College. “Our children are the future of our community. Anyone who does not have an interpersonal understanding of their options does not truly make a choice. We have to expose our children to higher education and remove barriers to access. Once education is perceived as a feasible option, it will become a viable choice,” said Patterson, who is helping lead the trip. Terrance Hall of the RAEDC also was recently featured by the TV station because of his volunteer work with WLC. See the link here. |
