ROCKFORD, March 16 — The TechWorks fast-track manufacturing training program has a new home at Rock Valley College — “a beautiful new office, a beautiful new classroom and a beautiful new machining lab.”

That’s what instructor Gordon Blaisdell said about his “one-room schoolhouse” in a Rockford Register Star feature story to promote Wednesday’s open house.

TechWorks teaches the skills and credentials needed to qualify for CNC machine operator and assembly jobs in high demand in the Rockford Region. Twelve classes graduated 87 students in 2014.

The Business and Professional Institute of RVC oversees the program in partnership with the Rockford Area Economic Development Council. It was formerly housed at Eigerlab.

To get your tour or learn more, go to the open house at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the RVC Stenstrom Center for Career Education (Commons Area), 4151 Samuelson Road, Rockford.
