ROCKFORD, Dec. 15 — Packaging Coordinators Inc. (PCI) is welcoming other Rockford businesses to join in its “Pick a Star” holiday gift giving campaign. Employees of PCI established the program to help families in need during the holiday season, working closely with the Harlem and Rockford School districts to identify potential recipients. To date this holiday season, PCI associates have collected donated gifts for over 150 local public school students identified through the program. “We started with humble beginnings, hopeful that we could re-create some of the amazingly generous support we have experienced with past programs administered at the Rockford PCI sites,” said Jodi Hermans, one of the program leads. “Initially we worked with Harlem District Schools to identify potential recipients, and through the generosity of our associates, we very quickly realized we needed to expand the program. At that time we contacted Rockford Public Schools and the program continues to grow within PCI. Then we started to wonder, what if we invited other businesses to join us? That led us to contact the Rockford Area Economic Development Council and explore what opportunities we may have.” Businesses looking for more information regarding the program may contact Jodi Hermans at (815) 484‐8913 or Jodi.hermans@pciservices.com or Pam Ray at Pam.Ray@pciservices.com or (815) 484‐5538.
