As 2014 draws to a close, Steve Ernst is stepping down as executive director of the Rockford Metropolitan Agency For Planning. Ernst has spent 35 years working on transportation, infrastructure and planning in the Rockford Region. He reflected on his work in a Rockford Register Star interview published Dec. 2, 2014. He celebrated regional collaboration, saying “I think we collectively have been a lot more successful than we could have ever been individually.” He also mentioned Amtrak and passenger rail as a major opportunity for us.
