NIU-Rockford, 8500 E. State St, Rockford

NIU - Office of Regional Engagement Logo - Department of Defence ProjectParticipation is needed in a Department of Defence-funded study to help Illinois defense contractors diversify their markets and become less dependent upon DOD. The study will analyze defense supply chains for Illinois defense contractors.

Please join us December 13, 8:30 – 10:00 am at NIU-Rockford to learn how your firm can benefit from the project. The meeting is being hosted by NIU’s Office of Regional Engagement and will be facilitated by representatives of the Strategic Development Group.

As you may know, the University of Illinois received a Defense Industry Adjustment grant from the DOD to:

  • Help Identify defense suppliers and other sectors
  • Pinpoint potential new markets for Illinois defense contractors
  • Spot gaps in the defense supply chain

The meeting will also provide the chance for small to mid-size defence contractors to talk about what information they need to grow their markets outside of DOD.

Our agenda for the meeting is as follows:

  1. The overall project
  2. Changes in your region and business sector
  3. Building the project tool set
  4. Discussing current defense contractor concerns
  5. Next steps

Please email Ann Petta if you would like to join this important session! We will send you an invitation for your calendar.

Sincerely
Rena Cotsones, Ph.D.
Associate Vice President for Outreach, Engagement and Regional Development
