Start-up plastics manufacturer to bring new jobs to Rockford


A new start-up company, Delicate Plastics, will assist people with employment opportunities and training through the use of a Community Development Block Grant. A majority of the created jobs will be available to low or moderate income employees who may not have the work experience or education to be eligible for employment elsewhere.


Rockford Register Star LogoUnder a proposed agreement with the city, Delicate Plastics would get $150,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds to defray the cost of classroom and job training for the new employees. In exchange, at least 51 percent of the positions will go to low and moderate income employees who may not have previous work experience and who could have criminal records.

Delicate Plastics — a plastic injection molding company that will convert scrap plastic and landfill waste into plastic fibers and pellets that are sold and converted into plastic products — plans to develop in three phases.
